WHO SHOULD APPLY FOR AN INTRA-COMPANY TRANSFER WORK VISA?

A skills transfer plan outlining how the organization intends to transfer similar skills from the foreign employee to a South African citizen or permanent resident must be included in the application for the Intra-Company Transfer Work Visa.
INTRA-COMPANY TRANSFER WORK VISA FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
My Intra-Company Transfer Work Visa has been issued for only two years, can it be extended within South Africa?
Yes, an Intra-Company Transfer Work Visa can be extended for an additional two years. The application can be submitted within South Africa, subject to the visa’s terms and conditions.Â
I would like to change from an Intra-Company Transfer Work Visa to a Critical Skills Visa or any other visa category. Can this be done within South Africa?
The Immigration Act makes no mention of the inability to switch from an Intra-Company Transfer Work Visa to a Critical Skills Visa; however, practice within the Department of Home Affairs suggests otherwise.Â
This means that if you want to change to a Critical Skills Visa, which provides a path to Permanent Residency, or any other visa category, you must apply from within your home country.Â

You may apply for a new Intra-Company Transfer Work Visa if you include proper company motivation as to why the four-year period was insufficient time to complete the assigned period. The new application must be filed in your home country from abroad.Â
Eligibility and supporting documentation for Intra-Company Transfer Work Visas can be complicated, so it is best to seek an immigration expert’s advice before applying.
